How is FD maturity calculated?
Fixed Deposit maturity uses compound interest: M = P × (1 + r/n)n×t, where P is principal, r is annual rate, n is compounding frequency per year, and t is tenure in years. Most Indian banks compound quarterly.
Tax on FD interest
FD interest is fully taxable as per your slab. Banks deduct 10% TDS if interest exceeds ₹40,000/year (₹50,000 for seniors). Submit Form 15G/15H if income is below the taxable limit.
